Cow slaughtering second day of Eid Al Adha 2017

Cow slaughtering on the second day of Eid Al Adha 2017. During the annual Haj pilgrimage, Muslims observe the Eid Al Adha.

Eid Al Adha is celebrated with special Eid Prayer in the morning and visiting the families, exchanging eid wishes and eat together special dishes prepared for Eid.

Also on the Eid Al Adha the Muslims will  sacrifice an animal, an act known as 'Qurban', basically means to give the meat in charity to the poor, the person who pay for the cow will take a small amount back home and the rest will be distributed to the poor people.

Those who would like to participate in the Qurban will give a specific amount with the intended parts of a cow to the mosque to be arranged to be sacrificed on the Eid, and the mosque community will purchase the livestock and together will sacrifice the animals.

Below is a video take here in Alor Setar, today at the Mosque Sultanah Bahiyah.

Mangosteen

Mangosteen is a tropical fruit, found in Malaysia. Outside, it looks like a big heavy purple nut, but when you hold it in your hand you will feel it very light.

If you open the outer skin inside you will see the inside looks white as milk, and soft easily melts in your mouth.

The Mangosteen fruit definitely has a sweet taste with a very slight sourness.
The season in Malaysia is June - August. Mangosteen seasons coincides with other fruits such as Durian, Rambutan and Longan.
